This debut novel is not to be missed. J.A. Merkel has expertly crafted a world of action, adventure, science, fantasy, and, dare I say, love.

On a deadly mission to retrieve necessary materials for their clan, it is no surprise when Fenri and her gang of experts face storms, beasts, and the scariest thing of all, the fourth portal.

For fans of Dune, Mad Max, and The Giver, this book will be reminiscent of those favorite reads yet pack a punch of newness and entertainment.

Delving deep into the seven chakras, this book explores different kinds of “portals.”

With a diverse cast of characters, expert world-building, and beautiful writing, there is so much greatness to unpack in these 400+ pages.

The Fourth Portal deserves to be on reader’s shelves. The dedication that J. A. Merkel put into this book is evident and he deserves so much praise. You can sense the hard work and research that went into every factoid and technical term. Even the things that aren’t real are framed so well by research that you can believe they truly exist.

With the variety of characters to connect to and find yourself in and the life on QhaHadur being seemingly possible in the future, the desire to keep reading will not leave. You’ll want to know what’s coming, how these characters grow, and how they get out of the sh*t they got themselves into.

I am rating The Fourth Portal 5 out of 5 stars for all the above-mentioned elements. J. A. Merkel clearly worked hard on this debut, and it has certainly paid off. I hope you read The Fourth Portal because I’d love to talk to you about it!

As always, thanks for reading! 💜
