ARC Review: Fire Away by Lainey Lawson

The Bunkhouse #2

I’ve been hoping for and anticipating this book since I finished Smoking Gun. Fire Away certainly lived up to my expectations. After a thrilling, swoon-worthy, and purely magical debut, I had high hopes for the sequel and was not disappointed. Continuing the adventures in the bunkhouse consisted of some not-so-fake dating, lovable antics, and more swoon-worthy behavior from the MMC. Trust me, you’ll want your own cowboy after this one.

Warren and Savannah are the stars of this story, and I couldn’t get enough of them. Warren is a determined, hard-working, passionate man who is both patient and demanding when he needs to be. With his eyes set on Savvy and his heart not far behind, it’s no wonder he said yes so quickly to becoming Savannah’s fake boyfriend after her tryst in county jail.

As a means to save her reputation, when her new boss assumes she is dating the town golden boy, she has a hard time telling the truth. Knowing that Warren bailed her out of jail with really no questions asked and still wanted to pursue her, she figured, “What harm could a “fake” boyfriend be?” That is until it all begins feeling a little too real.

With no support from her family due to her not wanting to stay with the family business, Savvy feels the pressure to do well, stick up for herself, and keep her spirits high. A bit of an outcast during her first few weeks in town, Savannah felt isolated. But, with Warren and his friends from the bunkhouse taking a liking to her, she soon realizes she isn’t so alone anymore. Proving that in a cowboy’s world, blood is not thicker than water.

Follow Warren and Savannah on their fake dating adventures in this standalone but interconnected series. Experience hurt and comfort, found friendship, found family, romantic suspense, and small-town cowboys. You’ll love the setting and the characters and keep wishing and hoping for the next story.

My comment from my first review of Lainey Lawson remains: She is one of my newer auto-buy authors, and I look forward to anything else she has to write. This book solidified that for me. Because of the suspense, anticipation, love, lust, and sheer entertainment of this book, I am rating Fire Away five out of five stars and a 3.5 for spice.

If you’re a fan of cowboys, small-town, and suspenseful romances, this one is undoubtedly for you. If you’d like to get a better sense of the series and haven’t already read it, you can read my review of Smoking Gun here!

As always, thanks for reading! 💜
